This is a buffer overflow vulnerability in the nmbd service of the widely used D-Link DIR-825 wireless router. An attacker on the same local network as the target can exploit this flaw to gain unauthorized code execution or crash the device. This product is no longer supported by D-Link, so no official patch is available.
Remediation
Replace the unsupported, affected D-Link DIR-825 router with a currently maintained alternative. If replacement is not immediately possible, isolate the device on a segregated network and block untrusted access to the nmbd service.
